Save congestion pricing before it’s too late.

This is our last chance to save congestion pricing.

Congestion pricing will transform our city for the better. It will reduce traffic, fund billions of dollars in public transit improvements, and cut air pollution. New Yorkers are calling on the governor to turn on congestion pricing, and she’s feeling the pressure.

We have to keep calling to push congestion pricing over the finish line at the original price of $15!

Will you call Governor Hochul at 518-474-8390 and tell her to turn on congestion pricing today?

To keep the momentum going, Riders Alliance is organizing an emergency canvassing event tomorrow at Grand Central Station. We are joining forces to make sure New Yorkers’ voices are heard. Can we count you in?

Together, we can make sure congestion pricing turns on — before it’s too late.

Three Things to Know

Queens Boulevard is becoming a safer space for everyone — but there’s still more work to do! The full length of Queens Boulevard, once known as the “Boulevard of Death,” will now be a safer place to walk and bike from Long Island City to Jamaica. This is a big win for all of us! With new protected bike lanes in Sunnyside, commuters can now ride safely on a direct route. Plus, the new retimed traffic lights and pedestrian islands will make crossing the street much safer. We’re hopeful this progress will be the first step toward a bus lane along this corridor, improved bus stops, and an expanded protected bike lane network through South Sunnyside and nearby corridors. Fixing Queens Boulevard has been a priority campaign for us for over a decade. What was once one of the most dangerous streets is now becoming a symbol of change — not just for Queens, but for the whole city.

New e-bike loading zones are popping up across New York City. As more New Yorkers turn to e-bikes and e-scooters to get around, we are excited to see the city set up dedicated loading zones just for them. By setting up dedicated spaces for every way people get around, we're making it easier to travel and creating a more organized, pedestrian-friendly environment. It’s proof that investing in well-planned infrastructure creates safer, more accessible streets for all.

In the news. Here’s what we’re reading this week.

  • Our Broadway Linear Park campaign was featured in The Nation as a shining example of how transforming Broadway into a linear park for pedestrians and bikers can reshape our streets and serve as a model for other projects to follow.

  • Starting this week, trash from buildings with nine or fewer units must be placed in bins with secure lids, reports Gothamist. Let’s take this a step further: the City should use curb space, not sidewalks, for bins, keeping our streets clean and safe for all.

  • According to The City, this week the City Council is holding important hearings on bills to protect tenants from illegal evictions and extreme heat. Take action now by using our NYC Spatial Equity tool to compare your neighborhood's surface temperatures to the citywide average.

Two Things to Do

Join Families for Safe Streets this weekend for World Day of Remembrance. At 1 p.m. this Sunday, November 17, we will gather at the Queens Botanical Garden in Flushing to honor those who lost their lives in traffic crashes in New York City over the past year. Together, we will also call for legislation to create safer streets and support safe biking infrastructure in Northeast Queens. Sign up today to be part of this powerful day of remembrance, as we work together to make our streets safer for everyone.

Explore Brooklyn by bike on our Browse the Branches Ride. We’re teaming up with the Brooklyn Public Library for a fun and engaging way to explore Brooklyn — on two wheels! We'll meet at the Marcy Library at 10 a.m. as we visit five different libraries across Brooklyn. Along the way, we'll check out different library programs and learn about street safety projects happening nearby. This fun, community-centered event is a great opportunity to explore Brooklyn by bike, stay active, and connect with fellow riders while supporting safer streets for all. Join us on Saturday, December 7, and get ready to ride!

One Action to Take Now

It’s now or never: Demand Governor Hochul start congestion pricing. If Kathy Hochul doesn’t start congestion pricing now, Donald Trump will permanently kill it on day one. The stakes couldn’t be higher: we have just days left to save congestion pricing. Every call counts, and we’re counting on you to keep the pressure up.
