“Thanks to this bold plan, New Yorkers can rest easier knowing that 14th Street will prioritize moving people instead of cars across town when the partial Canarsie Tunnel closures begin this weekend. Mayor de Blasio deserves applause for heeding the call of the transit-riding majority, and standing up for New Yorkers who have been clamoring for serious alternatives to the L Train. The ambitious new design for 14th Street is the right solution for a congested corridor in a part of the city where a small fraction of people drive, and could easily be replicated on other streets where buses move at walking speeds."
